Sorry

Hi Everyone,

Yes I know I failed my New Years resolution and you guys. New Years for this coming year is just around the corner and I won't be able to catch up. I apologize that I have not kept up with my blog. I have some sad news also and I am going to fill you all in I have not kept up with my crafting either.  I have a bit of updating to do so that you all know what has been happening with me. I am working full time and loving every minute of it.  Well that is not a hundred percent accurate there is always one or two things in every job that drive you absolutely crazy.  However, the positives out way the negatives for me. I am also doing a lot of work and courses with Palliative care and helping educate people on it. It is also November 16th I have finished all my Christmas shopping, wrapping and Christmas cards.  I had my first person of the 80 people I sent Christmas cards receive them yesterday.  I have plans to finish my Christmas decorating of my house this weekend. I am likely going to do the tree and a small amount of decorating because I am not going to go all out this year as we are saving up to get our deposit because in the new year we are going to be looking and hopefully getting our first house. Then I will be able to get a decent size craft room and then I can stock it full of fun and start on all my projects.  I have a crap ton of scrap-booking to do and my craft room now is good and all but I feel that when I get into a project that a bomb has gone off in it.  As I also have my overflow for my nursing supplies in my craft room.  I have a big task this weekend too to organize my car because my car has had a nursing supply bomb go off in it. It honestly looks like a hospital supply cupboard has thrown up in my car. I may have to take pictures and show you the before and after so that you all can have a nice hearty laugh.  I am hoping that with me being done my Christmas prep I can get some of my crafting done.  My hubby is actually crafting in a way himself he is working on perfecting the technique of resin infusion and how to pull molds from things.  I try and grasp what he is doing and why but I don't fully get it and I am not sure I really want to.  I see it as he is making a mess in my house and says it will pay off in the long run. Yes I may bitch and complain about him tinkering but he is happy that he is learning new things and trying new things. So I will tell you he is happy and if he is happy I guess I will let him tinker as long as he cleans up after himself.  I am going to end this post here, I hope to have another one posted tomorrow or Sunday at the latest.  My goal for that post is that my car will be cleaned, my tree will be up and I may have attempted some crafting .  Until next time let your imagination soar.

Spotted Canary Class

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the late post, my week last week was super busy. On a typical week I see any where from 15-25, people last week I saw 42.  Needless to say by the time I got home from work, I wanted to eat dinner and go to bed. I did nothing last week.  My house looked like a bomb went off in it but I did not care.  I am fully registered for my scrapbooking class that I have been trying to do since December. I finally get to start it on Sunday I went to Michael's today to get my rainbow colour selector and my calligraphy set and I found the worlds best deal.  I came across a scrapbooking tote on wheels with 17 piece storage set inside.  It was regularly $169.99 and I got it for $44.99 cause the company was discontinuing that model.  Of course I grabbed it.  I can't image what fun things I am going to learn in the class and what fun projects that it will help me to create.  I am starting my wine making this Friday I am picking up two batches so that I can get one started and in two weeks when I can take the wine from the plastic bucket and put it in the carboy and then I can start the second batch.  Then another pay period will come around and I can pick up two more.  I will need to make 6 batches in total to fill all the bottles I have in the house.  That way I won't have to go to the brand new super sized LCBO and spend a fortune on wine when I can make it for $2 a bottle roughly instead of $6-14 a bottle for the stuff I like.  Also it is always nice to have wine in the house because you never know when family or friends will pop over and you can always offer them wine in the spring and summer cause nothing beats sitting out on the patio and having a nice glass of wine and kicking your feet up. Plus it is always good for dinner parties too.  So I will have a couple projects on the go in May. My wine and my scrapbooking class plus I have a course I am taking in May and June to help me to be an even better nurse.  I am going to be busy this next month but I think it will be a blast then it is camping season.  Bring it on.

Where to Start

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, I want to apologize with how lax I have been with my blog. One week I have a complete bitch session and then the next I am stating that I went away and really haven't got to my crafts that I wanted to do.  I honestly can say that I have not done much of anything but work since I have come back from vacation.  The scrapbooking class that I wanted to take is running again in May so likely when I get paid on Friday I will be going to get registered for that.  Then maybe that will bring me out of my funk.  I have just have had no drive to do much of anything.  I have books I want to read, I have scrapbooking I want to do, I have to start thinking about getting my vegetable garden prep'd and ready to go and I have to win the lottery so that I can bank roll this.  I joke about the lottery a lot but someone once said to me " you want to win the lottery but you never pay so how do you expect to win". My answer (which makes total sense to me at least) I either find a winning ticket by chance or someone I know and love wins it big and wants to share.  I know the likelihood of me playing and winning are just about as good of odds as me finding the winning ticket by chance.
But back to my funk....I have been in so deep I can honestly say I have not been on pintrest in weeks. While that is not entirely true I went on last Wednesday night to grab a recipe but I did not pin a thing and I am a huge pintrest junkie.  I am asking all of you where do I start? What do I to get out of this funk?  Spring and Summer are just around the corner and I am looking forward to it but not as much as normal.  My hubby is pumped for race season, I have friends planning camping, friends getting married, and friends buying boats.  Then there is me in my near future I see work and bills.  Yeah...not  Please help with the de-funking process. I am all ears...while not literally that would be weird.

Sorry for the delay

Hello All,

Sorry for the delay in my post I was in Florida basking in the sun light. I got a wonderful tan, saw wonderful things and I have tons and tons of new photos that I will have to scrapbook.  I will keep this one short as I haven't made any advances in my crafting but I am hoping with the warm weather coming the inspiration will find me. Wish me luck

Unmotivated

Howdy,

I have got absolutely nothing accomplished this week.  I have not exercised, I have ate things I shouldn't if I want to lose weight and I have be an all round bear to be with (not that my wonderful hubby has said anything about it).  I just have a very stressful week and I am so ready for Florida.  I know the stress that are there when you leave will still be here when I get back. However, fun in the sun, swimming and a little bit (who am I kidding a lot) of booze may help get me out of my funk. I have gotten the winter blues hard this week, even though it doesn't really look like winter outside looks more like early spring or late fall.  It just has seemed that everything I planned to do or wanted to happen didn't this week. No to mention, every part of my life that wasn't causing me stress decided it would be a good idea to cause me stress.  I am not sure why I am doing this blog anymore cause who is it helping.  I am not getting the projects I set out to do any quicker then I would have with out this blog.  I have no one posting comments, questions or concerns so it feels like I am talking to myself but over the internet.  Yes I know people are reading it or so they claim, but is that enough. I guess that is the question I have to ask myself.  Maybe all I need is a good de-stressing night or maybe weekend but all our money that isn't going towards bills right now is going into savings to pay for the trip and so that we can have fun on the trip.  I also think I am slightly disappointed that I couldn't be in the class in March I feel it would have been fun and a good learning experience. I just hope they are doing it again in April. They have not yet posted the April calendar, so time will tell. I just don't know what to do anymore. I know everyone gets in funks every now and then and I shouldn't be bitching and complaining like I am, but it is my blog and I'll do what I want...lol I know there are people in this world that are worse off than I am and I shouldn't complain. Unfortunately, life is not perfect. I have learnt that a lot over the past 4 years. My goal for this next week is to find something to be positive and happy about each day and focus on that instead of the negative aspect and the things I can't control.  It is going to hard but hopefully it helps. Wish me luck...LUCK!!!! (yeah I am corny)

Slow Week

Hello Everyone,

So since Tuesday I have been working like a mad women on scrapbooking.  I have done twelve pages.  Some are not as fancy as I would like but I had a lot of pictures to get in a couple pages.  I think they are nicely presented. I have also picked up a 195 piece art set. It has some great things to work with.  I haven't used pastels and water colors since I was a child it will be nice to use them again and they will be able to enhance my scrapbooking in an artsy way.  Some of the pictures I have been putting off doing because of the emotional attachment to the pictures I finally got around to scrapbooking this week. I have had my little cry and got those pages done.  I will be looking for new patterns to knit and crochet.  I have been helping my hubby with our business on the side. I haven't had a lot of time since early this week to work on as much of my things as I would have liked, but it is fine. I will slowly pick away at my stuff.  Well this is it for now.  I will talk to you all soon

The Scarf

Hello Everyone,

Sorry this post is a couple days late.  I wasn't really near my computer this weekend.  I had the time to be but I just didn't seem to realize I should do my blog.  When I woke up today and realized it was Tuesday and that I never told the world about my scarf and my week last week I was shocked.  I took some pictures and prepared for my day.  Now it's 2:30 and I am finally sitting down to blog.  I kept getting distracted and doing other things and forgot to take the two minutes to write this.  Sorry I have been not so diligent these past couple weeks.  Chris and I won a trip to Florida so we are trying to get everything sorted out with that.  Yes the control freak that I am, I have already started packing.  With the trip slowly approaching and us feeling like there is still so much to do. It is starting to get overwhelming.  However, my sister is law flew in from New Zealand yesterday so that is awesome.  I finished the scarf on Sunday.  I will likely not do a colour changing one again for quite some time.  Seeing it takes forever and a day to do the first row of the colour because you are weaving in the ends.  Yes I know I can wait till it is all done and weave them in after the fact but I thought I would attempt to do it this way. I have enclosed a photo of me wearing the scarf and a photo of the scarf and the hat together.  I guess all I have to do now is find a mitten pattern and start crocheting.  I am going to tackle some scrapbooking this afternoon and evening.  I will not be doing the class in March as I would have to miss the third week class and possibly the fourth week pending on when we fly back in so here is hoping they are offering it in April.  I am also planning on making a bunch of wine in April.  Not this past Christmas the Christmas prior I got the supplies to be able to make my own wine at home I just have to buy the $60 kits from my wonderful wine lady and then 4 weeks later I have 30 bottles of wine and it works out to be about $2 a bottle instead of 6-12 dollars a bottle.  I hoping to fill up all my wine bottles as I have one bottle left from when I did my last batch.  I will have lots of projects on the go in early spring but I will need to keep myself busy as I get bored very easy.  I am slowly seeing results on my weight lost challenge that I am doing with my hubby and one of our friends.  I am down 6 pounds since I started just over a month ago. Last week was the biggest weight lost week for me with a lose of 2.2lbs.  If I keep this up I might be at a decent weight for when I go away.  Well I want to apologize that this post is a little all over the place but I had so much that I wanted to tell you.  I will do likely 3 post this weeks so looking forward to talking to you later. Bye for now

This Week

Hello Everyone,

This week has not been productive at all. I have started a scarf but I might have to redo it as I dropped a stitch on the 3rd color change.  Needless to say I was not impressed.  I have not been feeling my best this week so I have been spending some quality time with my bed. Sorry this post is not more eventful but there is not much to say this week.  Hopefully the crafting bug bites me this weekend and I get some scrapbooking or some crocheting done.  I will keep you all posted.  Have a wonderful weekend.

The Hat From Hell

Hello All,

As you all know I had my course at Michael's on Monday to learn a new stitch.  While let me tell you that was an ordeal. I was there for 5:45pm so that I am on time.  There were two of us scheduled to take the class plus the instructor.  The Michael's staff didn't come to the room till 5:55pm and advised me that the instructor is running a bit late.  The instructor didn't show up till 6:20pm  and then we started. I learnt how to double crochet. We figured as we only had a two hours to work on this project together she would teach me to make a hat.  She felt that if we started a scarf or pillow I wouldn't have enough done in the two hours to feel confident to finish it at home. While we started the hat.  I went home on row for of a 15 row pattern.  I worked on it that night and I was concerned because my hat was more of a Dollie then a hat.  But I had faith. I got to row eight that night. I phone the instructor the next morning and voiced my concerns and she said that it should become more hat like by row 13, so I continued on. I got to row 13 and still Dollie like. I researched on the internet and found out that I might still be adding a stitch and that could be causing the problem of why it is not curving into a hat.  I took out rows 13-7 and started them over.  While it started to curve a bit but not as much as it should.  I called the instructor again on Wednesday morning and asked if I could come in and show her what was happening and see if there was anything we could do to fix it.  I got to Michael's at a little after 10 in the morning. She said I did something wrong in the first four rows so I would have to start over.  We then pulled out the whole thing and started over.  Yes this time it turned into a hat but still it was discouraging to not be able to get a hat on my first try.  The hat is finally done. I may start a scarf next and use the toast yarn color and add some rows of the off white so that I can wear the hat and scarf together. Oh and good news they are running the spotted canary course in March.  I will be registering on Friday. I will keep you posted on that.  Enclosed with this post are the picture of the demon hat and me wearing it.  There are still some flaws in it but hey it is done and I won't be doing a hat for a bit. Till next time

Craft Room Before and After

Hello Again

Chris and I had a difficult weekend this past weekend, as our rabbit Toby past away. Today I woke up and cleaned out the room that she was in and decided that I would make it my craft room. These are the before pictures below:

I spent the day cleaning and organizing my craft room so that I can show you all the progress in my after pics so here they are :

I am really happy with the way it looks I feel I need to add some pictures to the wall. It is time to get to work on some scrapbooking now that I have my room finally set up. Yes you may see that I don't have the top on my desk and it is sitting on the floor, but I did this so that I can maximize the space on my desk top, and have more space to scrapbook.

I had a great time on Monday at the one and one class. I learnt some new things. I learnt how to set a page layout and why we set it in that manner. Now that I think about it, it makes complete sense. I made two great pages all by myself it took me close to two hours to do but I am very happy with the way they turned out. I will remember to use those techniques from now on and I can't wait to learn more. I am going to likely make it part of my schedule to either go to the Friday night crop night or the Monday afternoon crop session just so that I can work on my scrapbooking with others and get their opinions and comments on what I am doing. Any input helps. Well as promised here are the pages I did below:

While I think this post is long enough for today, so I will talk to you all later. Until next time have a great day.

Progress

Hello Everyone,

I have added some pictures with this post. On Friday night I knitted that 4x4 square for my first square while I watched a movie with my hubby. This is the burgundy square in the photo. I am pretty happy with myself only made a couple boo boos. Most won't notice them but those with a trained eye they will see that my first row is kinda loose in spots, I some how dropped two stitches but managed to pick them up on the next row. Which made no sense to me, but I still did it. It is not perfect, but for a practice square and the fact that I haven't knit in years I was pleased. I am going to attempt to do a crochet one either tonight or some time this coming week.

The other photo is of one of the prepared Christmas scrapbooking pages. This is what it looks like after I added the picture. I want to be able to do great pages like this on my own some day time will tell. I bet the wonderful lady in the picture with me is going to be pleased to know that she is now on the internet is a funny get up for all to see. Lol (please don't be mad). I called to day to book my one on one class tomorrow for scrapbooking. I will let you know how that goes. Well I am off for the night talk to you later.

Hope Always Find You When You Need It!

I was starting to doubt the point of doing this blog as I thought that Chris and I were the only ones who were reading it. Then I heard the most wonderful news. I actually have readers. One of my oldest friends that I have known since I was in public school said she reads my posts. That makes me happy and that is why I think this week you will get two posts.

Well here is the update for the week. I have picked up an new Bright Pink scrapbook album (for those who know me they know how much I love pink),a black and grey wedding album (so that I can finally start scrapbooking my wedding pictures), I also got a couple prepared sheets that I just have to add pictures to. I picked up two wedding ones and two Christmas ones as well as, an autumn kit so that I do beautiful fall theme package of papers and embellishments and a wedding theme package of papers and embellishments.

I am going to be taking an one on one scrapbooking class on Monday I hope that it will be helpful. Depending on when I finish work tomorrow I might go to the crop night, well that is if Chris doesn't need me here to entertain him. Which is highly unlikely as he has a ton of projects going on right now. The other reason I wouldn't got is if we get the snow storm they are calling for, as I absolutely hate driving in the snow not because I can't drive in it but because others don't know how to drive in it. Well on this note I am going to call it a night talk to you all soon.

Busy Week

Hello Everyone,

Another week has come and gone. I have made a lot of progress this week I received my 3377 piece embellishment lot this Wednesday. It has a lot of great stickers and features to add to my new scrapbooking pages that I will be making. I have even got things that I have never used before like rub on's, brads and others. I am excited to learn how to use them. My wonderful husband picked up my paper lot I won this morning from the postal outlet. I won 215 pieces of 12*12 scrapbooking paper. I have looked through them and I have some that I am dying to use right away and others that I am not sure how I will use them. I know though with this hobby it is never one that you find you have too much stuff. It is more like you don't have enough. I find that when I am scrapbooking I can always wish I had something else to make the page just right. Last night I did six pages of scrapbooking, and I finished my first album. My scrapbook is actually too full, so I had to expand the spine. Honestly, they should make that easier to do. I spent a good ten minutes trying to struggle with putting my album back together. Finally, I had to get the help of my Buby Man to assist me in getting the album together.
This week I have also picked up my supplies I need for my crocheting class on the 30th. I need a J hook and 2 skeins of red heart soft yarn. I bought a multi-hook set so that if the next project I make if it calls for a different hook I have from a-j. The yarn I got was Toast and Off White and they will look great as a scarf. They will look awesome with my boots that I got for Christmas as they are rusty brown color. So Wednesday night I looked at the things I needed to know prior to my class. I walked through some tutorials and I have successfully taught myself to crochet a foundation chain, single crochet and turn a chain. I was quite impressed with myself. Today I went out and got myself a I taught myself to knit kit. So tonight while I finish my Harry Potter movie marathon I am going to teach myself to knit again. I was taught by my mom when I was little so I hope I can pick it up again easily. I use to make clothes for my dolls or blankets for my toys. Then I got older and it wasn't cool to knit so I put the knitting needles away. I wish I never stopped. Luckily I am jumping back into it and will have many of projects to undertake this year.
Another neat thing I came across this week was that my town has a small crafting store called Lasting Impressions and they do free one on one classes during the day to help people learn new techniques or to help beginners. Unfortunately my schedule conflicts with when the classes are run right now but my schedule may be changing in a week or two, so hopefully I can go to one of the sessions. They also do a crop night on Friday evenings. You go there with your recent project and get together with others that love the hobby as well and they work on their projects you work on yours and you can help each other as well as the scrapbooking instructors are their to help out if you need a hand or want a new idea on how to do things. I may go to this coming Fridays class. I will be late as it starts at 3 and I work till 4:30 but I think it may help. It will also be nice to be with others that enjoy scrapbooking like I do. I want to get my scrapbooking away from the collage type and more into the traditional style of scrapbooking. Do not get my wrong I love my work that I have done but it is always good to learn new tricks and tips to make your pages pop to others so they love them like you do. Well that is enough rambling for today best go bast my turkey. See you soon

One Step Closer

Hello Everyone,

I am successfully one step closer to getting the ball rolling on my New Years resolution. So this week I have been extremely under the weather but I still have some updates for you all. While this week I have won a 3377 piece scrapbooking lot from eBay. It is schedule to get to me on Wednesday January 11, 2011. I am super excited to see what all I got in it. I guarantee that it is about $200 plus worth of items and I only paid $43.65. You have to love that. I am going to be placing a bid on a paper lot tonight so that I have lots of great paper to start my projects with. I have also signed up for Michaels-Discover Tall Stitches of Crochet Class and I am schedule to do that on January 30th, 2012. Look forward to seeing pictures of that. I think that class will be a bit advance for a beginner so I am going to buy the needed supplies soon and teach my self the slip knot, foundation chain, single crochet and turning chain that I am required to know prior to the class. Luckily in this day in age I have found most of these on YouTube. Got to love people posting walkthroughs. I likely won't be jumping into anything to crafty at the beginning of the week but after Wednesday when I get my scrapbooking supplies craft time will commence. I will keep you all posted in my struggles of learning those stitches and all the goodies that I won when they arrive. I also tried to sign up for the Michael's -Spotted Canary Scrapbooking Class but it wasn't being run in January or February so no luck for that. They took my information at the store and they are going to talk to the instructor to see if she can put together a class in the next month or for her to let me know when she will be having the next class. I was going to do it in December but I went to register for it but it is a four week course and I found out about it and the week I was going to register it was week two of the course so I couldn't join. Hopefully the instructor decides to have one start in January or February because that would be awesome. I am really looking forward to doing that class. As I said it is a four week course it includes:

Class 1 Scrapbooking Basics
Learn the elements of scrapbook design.

Tools
Organization
Focal point and matting

Class 2 Building Blocks of Design
Create layouts that complete a balanced and unified story.

Color methodology
Layout design
Principles of element placement

Class 3 Power of the Pen
Explore the influence of type and journaling on scrapbooking.

Creative writing
Decorative pen tricks
Journaling and titles

Class 4 Finishing Touches
Embellish your project with stickers and punch art design.

Finishing a page
Sticker Art
Punch Art

I personally think even though I have been scrapbooking for years I would still learn a lot in this four week course. Hopefully I get a call back soon saying they are going to run one in February. I was also given a great idea from my wonderful aunt (Love you) she suggested I start a journal so that I can see all the projects that I have done in years to come. Not sure if I will do a journal but I might do a photo book/scrapbook type idea. While I am off to get ready for work so that is all for now. Talk to you all soon. (Likely Wednesday)
